Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

India with 1.2 billion populations has one of the highest numbers of cancer patients in the world. This situation will get worse as our life expectancy of Indians increases and our habits like pan chewing, cigarettes and carcinogenic diet makes us more prone for cancer.
India has made great progress in healthcare but the out comes of cancer treatment in India still is not as good as it is in the developed countries. This is in part because cancer is detected very late and treatment of cancer in our country is mostly carried out by different specialist in different hospitals without a comprehensive approach. Developed countries could achieve excellent out comes primarily because of multidisciplinary team approach provided as comprehensive cancer care under one roof.

Mazumdar Shaw Cancer Center is part of Narayana Health City in Bangalore. This exclusive cancer hospital has 1400 beds which will go up to 2000 beds in the second phase making it perhaps largest cancer center in the world.  Main purpose of Mazumdar Shaw Cancer Center is to create a large infrastructure dealing with the entire spectrum of cancer care, bring the very best of global expertise and technology in every modality and create the culture of comprehensive cancer care making it possible for us to provide significant overall outcomes. This will be not only in terms of survival but also more importantly by making it possible for patients to lead normal lives without mutilation and pain preserving dignity. One major contribution of our center is to look for specific markers for Indian patients so that treatment can be targeted to optimize results and avoid unnecessary treatment.

Cancer of the breast is one of the commonest cancers affecting the women. If detected early, most breast cancer can be cured. Unfortunately simple method of early detections are ignored in the process when women present with the breast cancer it is too late for any meaningful care. Aim of this program is to create awareness among Indian women about the need for early detection of this dreadful disease so that after the treatment these women can get back to normal life.  We have technologies to detect this disease at a very early stage. We would like you to interact with our specialist and create awareness among the public about the incidence of breast cancer, methodology to detect it early and various treatment options. Every woman has the right not to suffer the ravages of breast cancer. There is much that we all can do to help.
