Plans strategic expansion in Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad, July 8, 2009: Narayana Hrudayalaya, one of the largest cardiac centers in the world, is set to inaugurate its first venture in the Andhra Pradesh capital. A 600-bed cardiac hospital, built on a 3 lakh sq ft facility is commissioned for August 1, 2009. The hospital will come up in Suraram Cross, Jeedietla.
With an investment of Rs. 100 crore, the hospital will provide specialized treatment towards cardiac care. The hospital aims at providing quality healthcare solutions for complex congenital heart surgeries, specially targeted at children. The hospital further plans its foray into other specialties like Orthopedic and Oncology, duplicating the model of the Bangalore Health City.
Dr. Devi Shetty, Chairman, Narayana Hrudayalaya, said, “India requires around 25 lakh heart surgeries in a year. With the current capacity, all hospitals put together can provide around 18,000 surgeries a year only. To bridge this gap, we aim at expanding into every state capital to begin with. The health city in Hyderabad is one such endeavour, helping us reach out to a larger number of people in need.”
Narayana Hrudayalaya has been successfully running two hub hospitals in Bangalore and Kolkata. The two hospitals together cater to 12% of the country’s pediatric heart surgeries.
“With Hyderabad, we also plan to expand to other regions in Andhra Pradesh. We are currently in touch with with State Government for allotment of land in Vizag, where we will look at the next hospital,” Dr. Devi Shetty added.
The hospital in Hyderabad plans to introduce healthcare services like Telemedicine, which has the largest network in the world, useful in remote treatment and consultation services. The Hyderabad hospital will also have a dedicated counter for the pioneering Aarogya Sri Scheme, India's largest Micro Health Insurance Programme.
