Ties-up with Narayana Hrudayalaya to provide for quality healthcare
Bangalore, June 9, 2009: For 11-year-old Gayathri life had come to a grinding hault. Living with a hole in the heart since birth, the daughter of a construction worker with 6 siblings aching for attention, Gayathri was caught in the web of poverty.
However, Yuva Bengaluru brought a glimmering hope for her. The NGO took notice of her condition in a meeting with the parents of the slum children to spread awareness about hygiene. Gayathri’s mother explained that repeated efforts at approaching several government hospitals had yielded no results.
Yuva Bengaluru approached Narayana Hrudayalaya to aid the treatment Gayathri is to receive. The hospital immediately registered her under the Suvarna Arogya Chaitanya Scheme. A four-hour operation conducted by a team of 5 doctors headed by Dr. Devi Shetty, Chairman, Narayana Hrudayalaya and Dr. Colin John, Senior Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon, Narayana Hrudayalaya gave Gayathri a new lease of life.
Kiran G, President, Yuva Bengaluru, said, “We are extremely grateful to the authorities at Narayana Hrudayalaya for being so corporative. We are also glad that all the procedures we completed in such a speedy manner. ”
The NGO is now looking at a tie-up with Narayana Hrudayalaya. They are looking forward to help Narayana Hrudayalaya with volunteers for any camps they conduct. They will also function as the point of contact between the hospital and the patients in the slum.
