Pain is the most common & dreaded symptom in cancer patients. The pain clinic at MSCC is designed to provide relief from pain sufferings. We also deal with the psychological, spiritual, social & occupational distress in patients - as they may lead to increased perception of physical pain. Our motto is to bring smile on the frowning faces, & help in healing of painful conditions.
The main focus of the pain clinic is to provide service to conditions such as neck pain, low back pain, tension headache, vascular pain, cancer pain, complex regional pain syndromes, & neuralgias pain following herpes. Treatment is also provided for spasms of cerebral palsy with a technique called Intramuscular stimulation. The clinic not only provides effective pain relief medication, but also involves state-of-the-art techniques & nerve blocks for complicated conditions.
Palliative care is an active total care to address physical, emotional, social & spiritual distress in patients - on treatment for life-limiting diseases. We work towards improving their quality of life by helping them maintain their physical, emotional, social & spiritual potential during rehabilitation.
Palliative care, also called as supportive care – starts right from the time of diagnosis & continues till the patient successfully completes the treatment. During this period, a palliative specialist regularly addresses any distress in connection with the disease & treatment. Palliative care is often said to be – low tech & high touch. We seek to ensure that both - compassion & science are governing forces during patient care. Accordingly investigations are done only when there is absolute necessity & if their benefits clearly outweigh potential burdens. The Pain & Palliative Care department also offers a support system to help the patient’s family cope with the situation.
